1030 - Death of Saint Olaf

Saint Olaf was born Olaf II Haraldsson in 995 and ruled As King of Norway from 1015 to 1028.

There has been much written about Olaf, particularly in the Icelandic Sagas, with Snorri Sturluson’s Heimskringla being a valuable source of information about Olaf’s life, even if its facts are somewhat contentious.

Olaf’s assumption of sainthood seem to be mainly due to his role in the conversion of Norway to Christianity, and the speed with which he was able to make this happen.
