1014 - 1028 CE - Cnut, King of England, Denmark and Norway

Cnut was a Danish prince, the son of Svein Forkbeard, the Danish king who ruled England for only a few weeks in 1014.

Cnut is known for the creation of the North Sea Empire after combining England, Denmark and Norway.

He started by becoming the King of England in 1016, after his army of Vikings from across Scandinavia defeated the English King Aethelred’s forces, predominantly led by his son Edmund Ironside.

Cnut then became King of Denmark in 1018, and later King of Norway in 1028.
