One more story…about boats…

One more story…about boats…

When we were delayed by ice on our first day in Greenland, we boarded the ferry at Narsaq, instead of Qaqortoq. The ferry then travelled on to Qaqortoq a per its normal schedule.

However, along the way it collected a small flotilla of local vessels which had been waiting at the edge of the ice…

… waiting for the ferry to cut a path through the thick ice for them.

So, as we proceeded, crashing through the ice, we could look back and watch as the small vessels followed behind in the relatively clear waters of our wake.

I loved seeing this… just one of the ways the Greenlanders work together in their sometimes-harsh environment. I was to get this same sense of community and collaboration in many of the places we visited during our stay in Greenland.

And so, this is my last post for my trip to the Arctic.

It is now over three months since I returned, and every time I have dived into my photos to create the next photo story, I have relived my adventure.

But then, that is exactly what I am trying to do.

My writing keeps every adventure alive.

Even while I am planning the next one…………..
