First photos from the Northern Lights trip

First photos from the Northern Lights trip

I’m back from my holiday and the first photos which I need to share are of course the Northern lights ones.

Yes, I saw the Lights.

And where I saw them was pretty extraordinary as well.

We were staying at the Muotka Wilderness lodge in Finland, and one evening we went out snow shoeing. We travelled across the deep snow, in a temperature of about minus 10 degrees, shooshing through the eerie night-time forest. We all had head torches, but that just seemed to increase the mystery as we made progress all the while staying within our little circle of light.

After about an hour, we reached our camp, where there was a teepee already set up, with a fireplace inside. Our guide lit a fire and prepared a supper for us, while we scanned the skies.

It wasn’t long before our patience rewarded us.

It was time to go back to the lodge. But the light show continued… the following photos were taken right outside our cabin!

What a night!

The lights were just wonderful. But the whole experience made it truly magnificent!
