The Battle of Clontarf was the culminating battle in a civil war in Ireland, in which Vikings fought on both sides. The result led to the decline of Viking power and marks the end of the Viking Age in Ireland, although Dublin would remain Norse-Irish until the coming of the Normans in 1171.
