First human settlement in Greenland occurred around 4-5000 years ago when Paleo-Eskimo cultures travelled from Eastern Siberia,  crossing the Bering Strait, and  coming across from the North American continent via what is now Canada.

• Saqqaq culture (2300-900 BCE) (Frozen remains of a Saqqaq person dubbed “Inuk” were found in Qeqertarsuaq. DNA sequencing determined that the person had lived 4,000 years ago and was related to native populations in northeastern Siberia)
• Greenland was then uninhabited until the arrival of the Dorset people
• Dorset culture (600BCE- 1000CE)
